5117 Rural Families benefit 27 Development Projects in Samangan

With the completion of 27 projects of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) in Dara-e suf-e bala and Dara-e suf-e payan districts of Samangan province 5,117 rural families are provided with deferent needed facilities.

The completed projects in 19 villages of Dara-e suf-e payan district include construction and graveling of 33Km rural road, 23 water reservoirs, 15 water wells, 3 tailor training courses and a solar power project totaling US$718,000 (AFs35,900,000) funded by MRRD and implemented through National Solidarity Program (NSP) of the ministry. These projects provide needed facilities and benefits to 3,840 rural families.

Giving details of the inaugurated projects, Mr. Ajmal Paiman the Spokesperson of MRRD added, “NSP 8 more projects to be completed soon in Dara-e suf-e bala district of Samangan province which include 11.4Km road, 13 drinking water wells, 6 carpet weaving projects and a tailor training course benefited 1,277 families totaling US$106,000 (AFs 5,300,000) funded by MRRD”

The completion of these projects responded to various problems of the communities in term of better access, clean drinking water, training courses, handicrafts training and power. Besides access to social service centers and easier transportation of local produce to local markets, with the inauguration of water supply projects the level of water borne diseases caused by lack of access to safe water will drop significantly. The projects have also offered the female villager opportunities to improve their skill to gain employment in their localities.

The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development through is various national development programmes such as Rural Water & Sanitation Programme, National Rural Access Programme, National Area Based Development Programme and the National Solidarity Programme is implementing various needed development projects in the villages of 34 provinces of Afghanistan.
